Company Description

I D E N T I T Y

Our century-old history as winemakers is made of four generations of winegrowers devoted to producing high quality wines, real expression of our unique Terroir.

In the late ‘70s Silvano Gallo started a new wine chapter joined years later by his two sons.

Today, Fabrizio and Marco Gallo, carry on the family treasure with extraordinary passion, preserving the traditions that their father taught them and introducing at the same time innovative winemaking techniques.

T E R R O I R

Our 32 hectares of vineyards are located north of Isonzo River, whose name identifies our Appellation, Doc Isonzo del Friuli.

The Isonzo Valley, Rive Alte is a suitable place for producing high quality white wines and red ones characterized by structure and body.

S O I L

The Isonzo Valley was shaped during the Quaternion ice-ages. The melt waters of the glaciers formed the current geomorphological profile.

It is an alluvial soil made of gravels, pebbles texture and clay with a typical reddish hue, rich in ferric oxide and other minerals, from which this place take the name “terreni ferretti” (ferretti: rich in iron oxide content).

The ideal type of soil for producing crisp & fruity white wines and full-bodied reds.

C L I M A T E

The beautiful upland of Isonzo is an open window which benefits from maritime and continental breezes.

The coolest Bora from the Balcani area melts with the most warm and humid Scirocco wind, which blows from the near Adriatic Sea.

The result is a pleasant maritime climate evidenced by the presence of extraordinary century-old parks in the near Cormòns, Gradisca d’Isonzo e Gorizia, renamed this last one, as “Habsburg Nice”, privileged place for the holidays of the Austrian nobility.

The perfect solar radiation and the nice temperature execution between day and night in the area of Doc Isonzo, help the slow maturation of the grapevines, resulting in balanced grapes rich in flavors and aroma.

W I N E M A K I G

The key to producing high-quality wines lies in a combination of factors: respect of the natural cycle of the grapevine, meticulous work among the rows, great passion and a unique Terroir.

The most awaited time of the year, the harvest, comes only when the grapes are perfectly ripe and they can be transformed into fine, balanced and elegant wines.

The careful selection of the best grapes during the thinning and the harvest is essential. In the cellar, innovative winemaking equipment and strict control of the temperature allow the quality to be preserved during the entire winemaking process

V I N I F I C A T I O N

The careful selection of the best grapes in the cellar is helped by the Selectiv’ Process Winery destemmer which has recently joined our top-quality cellar equipment. It’s able to clean the 99,8% of the cluster, allowing us to work only with the best sorted grapes.

The white grapes are then cooled and loaded into a vacuum system press, where they stay for one night in contact with the skin in an inert environment.

After the decanting, the must is transferred in controlled temperature stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation occurs helped by selected yeasts. Here the wine ages on the lees for months preserving the varietal aroma compounds.

Weed control in all Masùt vineyards is only mechanic, we don’t use any glyphosate-based herbicides.

Our work among the rows is supported by technology, an example is Olmi: a pulsed air leaf remover that perfectly cleans the cluster from any floral residues, increasing the exposure to the light and allowing a better air circulation.

The meticulous agronomic practices that distinguish our work, allow a perfect vineyards management.

A sub-irrigation system was implemented into all our vineyards to optimize the water supply, while minimizing dispersion caused by evaporation.

As far as energy is concerned, the winery relies on renewable energy: our solar array delivers clean kilowatts and covers most of our energy needs.

Our new Winery, whose construction started in December 2019, is inspired by Casa Clima principles, aimed at reducing the waste of natural resources, thereby limiting the environmental impact and assuring the wellbeing of the people who live or work in the building.
