HISTORY
This is the story of a family deeply rooted in the Barolo region, dating back to the great-great-grandfather who, in 1930, purchased a farmhouse and vineyards in the municipality of Barolo. Since then, the commitment and passion for viticulture have been passed down through generations. Alberto, son of Ferruccio Grimaldi, brought new energy to the company when he joined in 2020.
Giacomo Grimaldi, grandson of Ernesto, continued the family’s work with the hectare of vineyard that is now the renowned Barolo cru Le Coste. A pivotal moment came in 1996, when Ferruccio started producing wine, giving a new identity to the company now named Giacomo Grimaldi.
The family expanded their vineyards in Barolo, Novello, Vezza d’Alba, and Monforte d’Alba, reaching 18 hectares today. Ferruccio and Alberto continue to grow the business with dedication, respecting the past while investing in the future of the winery and the Langhe and Roero territories.
WINES
The winery produces two white wines: Langhe Sauvignon DOC and Roero Arneis DOCG.
The Langhe Sauvignon comes from Monforte d’Alba and is a blend of 50% Sauvignon Gris and 50% Sauvignon Blanc. The wine ages partly in steel tanks and partly in large casks.
The Roero Arneis DOCG comes from Vezza d’Alba, cru Valmaggiore, and ages on lees in steel vats before bottling.
The winery also produces eight red wines:
Dolcetto d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba Pistin, Barbera d’Alba Fornaci, Nebbiolo d’Alba Vigna Valmaggiore, Barolo DOCG, Barolo Sotto Castello di Novello DOCG, Barolo Ravera DOCG, and Barolo Le Coste Riserva DOCG.

The Barbera d’Alba Fornaci DOC, from the Fornaci area between Monforte and Dogliani, ages in French barriques for 12 months.
The Nebbiolo d’Alba Vigna Valmaggiore DOC vineyards are located in Vezza d’Alba. The wine ages for 12 months in barriques and large casks, followed by maturation in steel tanks.
The Barolo DOCG is a blend from the Terlo and Sotto Castello di Novello crus, aged for 40 months before release.
Barolo Ravera DOCG comes from the Ravera cru, owned by the family since 1980, characterized by Marne di Sant’Agata soil and eastern exposure, giving the wine finesse and depth.
Barolo Sotto Castello di Novello DOCG, owned by the family since 1997, comes from vineyards in Novello with southern exposure and clay-sand soil. The wine undergoes extended aging in barriques, large casks, steel tanks and bottle.
Barolo Le Coste Riserva DOCG comes from the historic Le Coste cru, owned by the family since 1930. The 3-hectare vineyard with very old vines produces a wine aged for 3 years in oak barrels, followed by further maturation in steel tanks and bottles, resulting in depth, complexity and elegance.
