Company Description

Our winery is located in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini area, on the Poppiano hill (300 meters above sea level), a splendid medieval settlement dominated by a castle.

We are located on the crest of the hill overlooking San Casciano Val di Pesa, where the soils are rich in stone (locally called “pillolo”) and marl, typical of the Tuscan landscape.

The winery has been family-owned since 1975, when it was purchased by the Guicciardini Corsi Salviati family, who passed on the Marzocco denomination to us. The original estate consisted of three properties: Marzocco, Pretale, and La Massa.

Today the winery extends over 70 hectares, including 35 hectares of vineyards and 8 hectares of olive groves.

A new development project began in 2012, when Roberta Chini and Maurizio Mazzantini started managing the winery. The project began with the zoning of the vineyards and the census of the estate’s vine clones.

Among the native grape varieties, we identified four Sangiovese clones, a Canaiolo from the 1950s, Trebbiano Toscano, and Malvasia lunga del Chianti. These are complemented by international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.

Starting with the 2015 vintage, we began vinifying each parcel and grape variety separately, leading to the first bottlings for commercial release.

In 2021, the new vineyards entered production, introducing Vermentino and Viognier, allowing us to expand the range with white wines.

Our olive groves, with approximately 2,500 trees, are registered in the Tuscan IGP olive grove registry and are distributed across four different plots.

Among the cultivars present we identified Moraiolo, Frantoio, Pendolino, Leccino, Leccino del Corno, and Coreggiolo. Each year, depending on the harvest quality, we select the best olives and cultivars to produce a single-varietal extra virgin olive oil.
