Company Description
A family owned and managed estate a few kilometers from Alba, which has been among the pioneers of Nebbiolo for over 60 years. The Piazzo winery was born thanks to the bravery and long view of Armando Piazzo and Gemma Veglia, who in the 1960s decided to stay and believe in their land, the Langhe, which were extremely poor at that time.
The far-sighted and counter-current idea of investing in Nebbiolo, the main grape variety of the region, turned out to be a winning choice.
Today the company owns 72 hectares of vineyards, of which 60% is cultivated with Nebbiolo. The main productions are Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Moscato d’Asti.
The winery is now led by Marina Piazzo, together with her husband Franco and their sons Simone and Marco. Supported by an experienced commercial and marketing team, the winery offers a representative range of wines expressing the authentic, clean and full character of Piedmontese wines.
The vineyards are cultivated according to the SQNPI sustainability protocol, ensuring environmentally sustainable agriculture.
For the past two years, the winery has been working on expanding the cellar to further improve quality, adopting more refined and gentle production techniques. The project also includes a new office building, tasting rooms and a large underground tunnel with a wine library, creating an experiential path that leads visitors to the heart of the winery.
The current production capacity is about 500,000 bottles per year, supported by a team of 21 full-time employees, with additional seasonal workers during the most demanding vineyard periods.
