Company Description

For many generations the Girone-Bisceglie family has been working in the agricultural sector, developing techniques and farming processes aimed at efficient agriculture that respects the natural cycle.

Luigi and Vito Girone grew up among the olive trees of the Ganga di Lupo district, chasing the tractor of their father Michele, who taught them the love for the land and its fruits, while their mother Maria passed on the family values of patience and dedication.

In 2017, the Girone family decided to invest in the direct transformation of their olives into extra virgin olive oil. Thanks to careful selection of the best olive mill and the use of a cold-pressing process, GangaLupo extra virgin olive oil was born: a selected, high-quality production that combines family tradition with a new entrepreneurial vision.

Luigi, who studied Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, has always worked alongside his father and is today an expert olive grower.
Vito, a building engineer, moved to Turin after graduating but remained deeply connected to his roots, bringing innovation and initiative to the family company.

Their monocultivar Coratina extra virgin olive oil has been recognized by leading international industry magazines, earning more than 40 prestigious international awards.

Coratina

The Coratina olive is considered the queen of Puglia. The fruit is medium-sized, ellipsoidal and slightly asymmetric, with a late and gradual ripening.

The monocultivar Coratina extra virgin olive oil is characterized by a deep fruity aroma with vegetal notes of green almond and artichoke. On the palate it presents a distinctive bitter and spicy character.

These sensations are often misunderstood as defects, but they actually indicate a high concentration of polyphenols, powerful natural antioxidants that help protect against cellular ageing, cardiovascular diseases and other health risks.

Polyphenols also contribute to the stability and longevity of the oil, protecting it from oxidation. A high polyphenol content is therefore a guarantee of quality, health benefits and longer shelf life.

Pairing

This strong-character extra virgin olive oil pairs perfectly with:

  • grilled vegetables

  • grilled porcini mushrooms

  • legume soups

  • tomato salads

  • grilled meats

  • aged hard cheeses
