Company Description

For three generations, the Dei Family has been profoundly linked to this territory and its rich resources. In addition to making Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the family business is involved in extracting travertine marble from the quarries in Rapolano Terme.

Maria Caterina Dei’s main goal is to produce high quality Vino Nobile that is the best expression of the terroir, representative of the typical characteristics of this indigenous variety. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano was the first Italian wine to earn the DOCG designation in 1981. The Dei Family in this special corner of Tuscany cultivates the Sangiovese grape in its vineyards, following tradition and using advanced production techniques in a project of sustainability.

An Estate of 120 hectares of which 60 under vine. Cantine Dei has five unique vineyards with distinctive characteristics, carefully suited to the cultivation of Sangiovese. The soils vary in composition, including mixtures of sand and clay, as well as clay and chalk. Other areas contain tuff blended with clay, while some plots are defined by sandy soils and medium-textured sandstone. This natural diversity creates ideal conditions for growing Sangiovese and contributes to the unique character and quality of the wines.

The estate produces a range of wines that includes one white wine, one rosé, and five red wines, as well as a dessert wine. In addition to wine, the estate also produces olive oil.

Completely surrounded by vineyards, the new winery was built entirely of travertine marble. The contemporary architecture harmoniously blends with the rolling hills of Montepulciano.
