Sometimes certain ventures are born as a game. And as a game, this idea was born from an entrepreneur who has spent his life among automobiles.

I have always been passionate about the world of wine, and in 2002 I decided to purchase, in Carovigno, in the Upper Salento area (Puglia), the sixteenth-century Masseria Pezze d’Arena, an ancient property of the Princes Dentice di Frasso, which I restored to its original splendour.

At the same time, I gave life to Carvinea, an agricultural wine-producing estate.

I approached the realization of this project slowly and respectfully, because it has always been a great dream of mine, fulfilled only in my mature years.

I knew I could not rely on tradition alone in the creation of my wines, but I hoped to convey the passion that inspired my first steps into this fascinating world of wine.

At the end of the 1990s, Puglia experienced a profound transformation in the wine sector. In order to pursue absolute excellence, I sought the best agronomic and oenological expertise.

With the decisive support of Riccardo Cotarella, the vineyards of Carvinea were planted around the ancient Masseria. The tuff stone soils, the intense southern sun, and the gentle sea breeze give distinctive character to the grapes Aglianico, Fiano, Negroamaro, Ottavianello and Primitivo, enriching the wines with complex aromas and distinctive flavours.

This is a prestigious project without compromise, in which Riccardo Cotarella and I share the same vision: care for every detail, rigorous refinement of every process, and patience, allowing the wines to mature in their own time.

My wines are a gesture of love: the strength of the sun combined with the generosity of the land of Puglia. They are dedicated to those who understand the value of authenticity.

Today I am as happy as a child and as proud as a demanding adult, because the fruits of this long journey have produced the best wine I could hope to create, thanks to the land, the sun, hard work, science and experience.

To be curious, to marvel, to be passionate, and to fall in love with what we do every day: this is the essence of my life.
