Company Description
Our farm was born from the union of two estates from two different Piedmontese territories: Langhe and Monferrato.
Dacapo, founded in 1996 in Agliano Terme, offers a wide range of wines, including Barbera d’Asti, Nizza, Grignolino d’Asti, Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, Pinot Noir, and Monferrato Nebbiolo.
Cà ed Balos, founded in Castiglione Tinella in 2004, was dedicated to cultivating vineyards to produce high-quality wines such as Moscato d’Asti and Moscato Passito and Langhe Dolcetto.
Our vineyards cover a total area of 7 hectares, located in the municipalities of Castiglione Tinella, Agliano Terme, and Castagnole Monferrato.
Respect for the environment and quality have always been two fundamental pillars of our philosophy. We care for our vineyards using pruning techniques that allow the plants to live longer. We manage the vines with pruning on young wood to guide them toward a healthy old age.
The longevity of the vine is the result of careful choices and we firmly believe it is important to preserve the vitality of ancient vineyards, both for the quality of the wines and for the scenic beauty they create. Moreover, maintaining the original genetic material allows us to cultivate plants that are more resistant to diseases and helps preserve our territory, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
By using technologically advanced equipment, we have significantly reduced water usage, protecting both the environment and our health, without compromising the aromas and flavors typical of our land. All grapes are harvested strictly by hand.
Since 2017, with the merger of the DACAPO and Cà ed Balos brands, we began a transition to organic farming, leading to vineyard certification in June 2019. In 2020, organic certification was also obtained for the winery.
The winery was completely renovated and expanded during 2017 and 2018, allowing all vinification processes to be centralized in a single location. We have equipped ourselves with the latest technologies, enabling precise control over fermentations, and have carefully selected the types of wood for aging our reds, with the aim of further enhancing wine quality.
With the 2023 harvest, we introduced the Monferrato Bianco DOC, produced from Manzoni Bianco grapes, a cross between Rhein Riesling and Pinot Blanc.
