Company Description

Giusti Wine was born from the vision of Ermenegildo Giusti, originally from Volpago del Montello, who emigrated to Canada at a young age. His dream was to honor and showcase the unspoiled beauty of Montello, the treasured corner of the Treviso Prealps where he grew up. Nestled among the gentle slopes of this “little mountain” at the foot of which flows the historic Piave River, Giusti cultivates wines of strong identity and authentic territorial character.
Among its finest expressions is Oro Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG, crafted by the internationally acclaimed oenologist Graziana Grassini. The estate also produces Umberto I Montello Rosso Superiore DOCG, a refined Bordeaux-style blend dedicated to the memory of Giusti’s grandfather, and Augusto, a distinctive red wine made from the recently rediscovered native grape variety Recantina.

The winery itself is a true work of art: designed by the renowned architect Armando Guizzo and built largely underground, it blends harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. From its windows, visitors can admire the Abbey of Sant’Eustachio, an enduring symbol of the area. It was here, in the mid-1500s, that Giovanni Della Casa wrote the famous Galateo, a cornerstone of Italian Renaissance literature on manners and civility. After a long period of abandonment, the Abbey has been restored to its former splendor thanks to the patronage of Ermenegildo Giusti, who fully financed its restoration and returned this historic treasure to the community.

THE FOUNDER: ERMENEGILDO GIUSTI

Ermenegildo Giusti was born in 1954 in Volpago del Montello, into a farming family deeply rooted in the land. His father, Augusto, born in Vénissieux, France, produced wine, while his mother Maria Vittoria’s family cultivated traditional local grape varieties such as Glera, Bianchetta, and Verdiso. At just 17 years old, Ermenegildo set out on a life-changing journey to Canada. He initially worked as a welder, but his determination and entrepreneurial spirit soon led him into the construction industry. In 1974, he founded his own company, laying the first brick of what would grow into a true entrepreneurial empire, now known as the Giusti Group of Companies, which he continues to lead today alongside his children with vision and expertise.
In 2000, Giusti chose to reinvest part of the fortune he had built in Canada into his homeland, driven by a desire to enhance and share the beauty of the places where he grew up. He acquired his first plots of land in 2004 and founded the Giusti – Da Col agricultural company. His commitment to the territory also led him to fully finance the restoration of the Abbey of Sant’Eustachio, an enduring symbol of Montello, returning it to its former splendor and to the community.
Today, Ermenegildo Giusti is joined at Giusti Wine by his nephew Gabriele, who grew up among the vineyards of Nervesa della Battaglia. After graduating from the Enological School of Conegliano and earning a degree from the University of Udine, Gabriele now leads the company’s technical evolution alongside oenologist Mirco Pozzobon, under the prestigious guidance of Graziana Grassini.
For Ermenegildo, wine represents a cornerstone of Italian culture, synonymous with beauty and excellence. From the very beginning, his vision has been to promote Asolo Prosecco and the Bordeaux varieties cultivated on Montello, true ambassadors of Made in Italy.
The eleven estates owned by the family reflect Ermenegildo’s idea of order and elegance, embodying a model of environmental stewardship and harmonious integration with the landscape.
