Company Description

Sturm is a family-owned winery located in Cormons, in the very heart of the Collio DOC area, one of Italy’s most prestigious wine regions. The estate extends over 18 hectares of vineyards, cultivated with deep respect for the land and its natural balance. Today, the winery represents four generations of winemakers, united by the same passion for viticulture and a shared vision focused on quality, elegance, and sustainability.

The annual production averages 120,000 bottles, with a strong focus on white wines, which account for approximately 80% of total production. These wines are predominantly vinified and aged in stainless steel, a deliberate choice to preserve freshness, minerality, and varietal purity, which are hallmarks of the Collio terroir. Alongside whites, the winery is also renowned for its high-quality red wines, aged in wood, expressing structure, depth, and complexity.

At the core of the estate’s philosophy is the production of elegant, balanced wines, where freshness and mineral character are always central. The white wine portfolio includes both autochthonous varieties—Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, and Malvasia —and international grapes such as Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, and Chardonnay, each interpreted with precision and respect for its natural expression.

Particular importance is given to Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a historic and indigenous Friulian red grape variety that plays a key role in the winery’s identity and represents a deep connection to local tradition. International red varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot are also cultivated, producing refined wines with a strong territorial imprint.

Sustainability is a fundamental value for the winery. Vineyard management follows practices aimed at preserving biodiversity and environmental health. A tangible symbol of this commitment is the presence of beehives within the vineyards, which support pollination and serve as a living indicator of a healthy ecosystem. This coexistence between viticulture and nature reflects a broader model of sustainable agriculture, where human intervention works in harmony with the environment.

Through a careful balance of tradition and innovation, respect for the land, and a long-standing family heritage, Sturm continues to craft wines that authentically express the character of Collio. Each bottle tells the story of a territory, a family, and four generations dedicated to excellence in winemaking.
