Company Description
The vineyards of Villa S. Anna are a part of extensive land possessions that have been in the Contini – Ruggeri family for over 200 years. The vineyards are located on the prestigious wine –growing hills that surround Montepulciano, a town with a reputation for producing some of the finest Tuscan red wines.
Like many landowning Tuscan families with quality vineyards, winemaking was one of the agricultural activities carried out on these estates. Simona Fabroni Ruggeri was the first member of the family to concentrate exclusively on wine producing and began a series of investments to increase the importance and diversity of the vineyards.
Simona, together with her daughters Anna and Margherita, created a family team that has been working together for over twenty-five years with one goal: producing the best red wine from a region internationally recognized for the quality of its grapes.
This vision guided investments such as planting new vineyards at high density, replacing barrels and barriques, and maintaining the centuries-old underground cellars where the wines age at natural temperatures.
From careful grape selection in the vineyards come the wines Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG, the Rosso di Montepulciano, and the elegant Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, created with the objective of representing high quality wine from the Montepulciano area.
The pride of the house is Vino Nobile di Montepulciano “Poldo”, produced from a scrupulous selection of grapes only in exceptional vintages.
Villa S. Anna has also acquired the Vegan Certificate brand, allowing the wines to be appreciated by a wider number of wine enthusiasts.
Since 2012, Villa S. Anna has followed the Integrated Pest Control Management production method in the vineyards, intervening only when treatments are necessary, with the aim of protecting both consumer health and the natural environment.
